What's up everyone? Been lurking on the site for a while and finally bit the bullet and got myself an iPod touch (8gig).

I ended up buying it from a friend of mine, he had a 1st Generation that he didn't use so I took it off his hands.

My question is what are the most essential apps/games that I should start picking up?

Also, what about jailbreaking? I've tried reading various tutorials to see whether I should or not but figured I'd ask the experts here haha.

    I am running 1.1.5.

    Please help!

Thank you for the quick reply sjleworthy, much appreciated.

With respect to upgrading, it must be done from a computer with iTunes correct?

Yes, but you need to pay for the update.

I can help you with the apps, just check your PM box in about 10 minutes

Once you have upgraded to 2+ firmware I would highly recommend Stanza (free from Appstore) for ebooks and iComic ($99c from appstore, free version available for jailbreaks) for reading comics. See my sig for details on both.

It's also good to jailbreak, it opens up new realms, though you need to read up to really get the most out of it or you'll be restoring every couple of months (plus any upgrade to new firmwares requires to you re-jailbreak and start adding your apps again!)

Tesla has a great thread on free Appstore apps That don't suck here and big boss has a nice piece on his arguments for jailbreaking here.

    Enjoy
