I was looking to register at http://developer.apple.com/iphone/, but I can't seem to do it for free.

Is it even possible?, because I did find this site, its Apple's actually, http://daw.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/DSAuthWeb.woa/wa/login?appIdKey=D635F5C417E087A3B9864DAC5D25920C4E9442C9339FA9277951628F0291F620&path=//iphone/library/navigation/index.html, and I quote:
Following links I only found how to register by paying $99. And I don't even have a mac to run the SDK on...

    So... is it possible?

you can be a dev for free but in order to submit apps to the app store, you have to pay 100 bucks
with a semi decent app, you can get that money back in no time

nope, you gotta pay, but i beleive there is a certain collage thing. The quote you show, is just to sign up to get the sdk, not the developer package.

Ok, thanks for the replies. If I understood right, I can't access all the goodies here:
    http://developer.apple.com/iphone/
    without paying, right?

What I can do for free is get the SDK, and use the simulator, but not test apps in my phone.

@Tyro: College thing? Could you elaborate a little bit?

    Thanks!

    Legally? May I ask how?

The only thing I want is to be able to see the documentation here: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/

I have access to a mac, but the way I see it, I can write code in any NotePad app and just compile it in a my mom's or my friend's mac. There's no real need to own one.

    I'm a Dev too

The ADC Account is Free and you can be part of the iPhone Dev program. But you can ONLY download the SDK and play with the Simulator.

Sure you can probably compile Apps on a Mac created with Notepad on Windows. But its going to be hard as hell to do. Ask GJB or SkylarEC.
