i know that most of our batteries wont die for a long time, but when our batteries die (eventually) will apple replace the whole ipod, or just the battery, cause i can imagine it to be hard to open the ipod.

Or does apple have a way of opening it?

i dont think apple would replace it at all (not for free at least). if they did replace it, they would probably just open up the ipod.

wasn't the iphone battery replacement in the $80 range... $60? something like that. I expect it would be the same for the touch.

Frankly, I expect the lifespan of the battery to be at least a year to 18 months. At that point it's gonna be time to replace it anyway, so the $80 might as well go towards the new 128GB touch IV.
