    I have a 1g ipod touch.
I haven't had any battery or wifi related issues until just within the past week or so. At first the battery was draining while the ipod was in sleep mode, apparently for no reason. Next I noticed that the networks that I could previously connect to were no longer detected... Even though my friend's touch and even my laptop could detect them still...
I've tried restoring, resetting, rebooting basically everything and have run out of ideas.
If you can help at all please post your suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

what temperature are you storing your ipod at
that could be the issue as it was for me in the winter time, in my dad's car

    Well I guess that depends.
    In my pocket, body temperature.
But mostly its on a table in my room which could be anywhere from 60-70 deg Fahrenheit.
Also I noticed the battery drainage about 2 weeks ago. It was fully charged at night as I was planning on bring it to cedar point with me the next day. When I turned it on the next day it was at 20%. At first I thought it was because I had forgotten to charge it but in the following days the same problem reoccurred.

    turn off wifi
    set screen to low brightness
hold home button five secs to close apps fully
these should improve battery life but if your not satisfied get the battery replaced by apple for a fee

    Thanks for the suggestion,
but what I'm trying to understand is why all of a sudden my battery is draining so much along with why my touch can no longer detect any wifi.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think my ipod is hopeless.
I'm waiting out for a new firmware release hoping that might help.
Does anyone else have a problem like this?

i have exactly the same problem with the battery drainage... it started 3 days ago. the only difference is that my wifi is fine. but ja, i put it on sleep and its almost completely drained even though i left nothing running or on. i dropped my ipod about a month back, but there were no problems afterwards with it.. maybe it's an after affect of that.
how about your charging rate? is it normal?
