Hey, I've been having problems with my 1st generation 8GB iPod touch that runs on 3.1.2 firmware and IS jailbroken.

The problem is I plug it into the charger, it charges to full 100% then i take it off the charger (computer or dock) and it completely shuts off and i turn it back on to see the battery "reset" back to what it was before i put it on the charger. The more it does this the worse it gets, does anyone know what caused this and how i can fix it WITHOUT replacing the battery (i cannot afford this)

Your advice is greatly appreciated, thanks

I think you need a new iPod and not a new battery.

I think your iPod has died of natural causes. (Battery can't hold a charge)

a solution would be to get a portable charger and keep it hooked up always.

It does, it shows the giant picture of the battery with the symbol saying its dead and it needs to charge... (not recovery mode lol)

I have a car charger, 4 docks, and 2 usb cords haha

its been charging for a wile now and i unplugged it and it seemed to survive, for now but ill post again if it keeps doing it sometimes it takes a few min to reset...

Had this exact problem with mine, And it's the stupidest thing to fix it:

    RESET NETWORK SETTINGS

    Most basic thing ever.

But I just sold it straight after and bought an iPhone
