I just searched and got nothing, I've seen legit looking battery percentages on people's screenshots of the iPod Touch and I was wondering if that's a part of the iOS or if it still has to be jailbroken.
Any and all help is appreciated

I recently installed the 4.0 GM as an update to my iPod (not a restore), and it still shows the battery percentage because of that, although all my jailbreak apps have disappeared. Could be because of that?

Yeh, you could purposely do that, jailbreak and update to a backup.

Theres an edit you can do to a plist file that can enable it, look around for that.
