Okay so I've been reading many batteries info out there and how to keep your lithium ion battery last longer, so now I don't really need my iPhone that much since school hasn't start, I don't want to use it yet.

I was wondering is it okay to turn off my iPhone and just leave it in the box without charging, would that affect the battery at all without turning it on and stuffs?

AS long as you keep it charging once in a while like evry month charge it once, just for the sake of your battery

@Chris, I just finished up reading that guide, that's why I'm so paranoid of losing its' battery life.

@rrroach, I'm not going to use my iPhone (hence why I said I'm going to leave it turn off for a couple of days or so)

@iBricked, I don't think I'm going to charge it, I'm going to leave it turn off for about a week or so, will anything bad happen for the battery since it hasn't been touch/charge?

Its fine, just don't leave it more than 2 months without charging because as soon as you charge the battery will take a few cycles before it returns to proper battery.

    Here is a general tip.

Which battery lasts longer (lithium ion)?

*A battery that hasnt been use in a month
*A battery which is under good user in a month.

The 2nd one because you are keeping the gel from forming a crystal and not working ever again, so if possible turn it on and play doodle jump or pocket god.

But a few days won't hurt the battery right?

sorry hi-jacking thread but it's related so didn't want to start my own

I'm finding my battery running out fairly quickly due to extensive usage and so I'm wanting to get an external back up battery back... thing is I don't know is it safe to use these.. Like what should i be cautious or wary of, will it damage the iPhone battery.. can i overcharge it etc

the one i'm looking at is

    Specifications:
    Battery Type: Lithium-ion battery
    Battery Capacity: 1900 mAh
    Input Voltage: 5.5V +/- 0.5V
    Output Voltage: 5.0V +/- 0.5V
    Input Current: 500mA MAX
    Output Current: 800mA MAX
    Dimension: 67x62x15MM
    Weight: Approx. 48g
    Charge Time: Around 2 hours

Really bad at this stuff so any help/opinion will be appreciated!
