I would like to ask some questions in regards to backing up an iphones content.

A)Besides the itunes backup/restore what other means is there to backup my iphone? For example if i use DiskAid/WinSCP and copy all of the roots contents, is this regarded as a backup of the devices contents?

B)Can i restore a backup into a different iphone/ipod device? Is it compatible with different OS versions?

For example i am interested in selling my iphone 3gs 32GB to purchase an ipod 4 generation when it comes out.

So will i be able to restore my iphone 3gs data to my 4gen ipod when the time comes?

C)What does a backup include? Off the top of my head i imagine:
    Applications+settings
    Music+Video+Ringtones+Photos
    Contacts
    SMS
    Phone Logs Possibly?
    Anything important other than this?

Doubtful, ipt4g might have a different filesystem layout, and I really don't recommend it
