I have a friend who wants to jailbreak with Spirit. However, he has a lot of Cydia packages that he's not willing to lose. Also, the doesn't want to go through iTunes to backup his App Store apps. My question is: If I SSH into his iPod and copy /var/mobile/applications and /applications to my computer, will I be able to install OpenSSH and drag the folders back in?

    Thanks.

you'll need wifi to get OpenSSH. If youy drag them you'll need every thing related to lets say sbsettings, not all of its file is in /applications, other files relating it are scarttered around. Best way to save them would to use aptbackup or pkgbackup(paid)

Heh, wish I had read that before we went ahead and did it.

All of his apps crash on open. Is there any way to save them?
