Since zodTTD has started charging for gpSPhone (not really too unexpected after donate and download), and I can't get a credit card (I'm 16, buying Simcity from the App Store took a month of haggling my parents), I want to back up the current free version (5.5.0) to my computer so I can always install it again should the need arise.

    How can I do this?

Can't you simply copy the applications folder in ssh? It's how i backup my winterboard themes. But honestly i have no idea ;(

I'm assuming it can't be that simple. There's all the apt and dpkg data to go with it to consider.

A program called isafecopy. If interested and want more info just ask and I'll post.

isafecopy backs up jailbroken data via ssh on your computer so if you restore or upgrade then rejailbreak you can restore your apps from the other jailbreak. This is a trial version so lasts for 30 days all you need to do is check the box that says cydia apps and hit backup it will backup into a folder that you unzipped after downloading isafecopy. Make another folder somewhere else on your computer and copy the backups you made ( you could probably backup everything just in case your iPod crashed and you would have to rejailbreak) into it just so when the days are up you still can have them. And when you want to put it back on just ssh it to your iPod. I believe this method will work for you and I am open to any questions.

P.S. You can purchase a non trial version
