So, my friend who knows next to nothing about computers in general has asked me to jailbreak his ipt2g. Could someone tell me if there is a way to back up his Music/Videos (don't care about the apps) and keep it synced to his iTunes library after the JB? My guess would be to back up certain folders using iPhoneBrowser, but I don't know which.

...wait a minute, I got ahead of myself, sorry...
What I needed to know before that was when I got through the restoring steps in iTunes during the JB, will it sync his iPod to my library?

EDIT: And also if it does snyc it to mine, when he erases and syncs to his later, if I put apps on there for him before he gets it back, will his iTunes remove them?

Just set it to manually put in music, so it won't sync automatically...

I understand that, but I'm asking if it will auto-sync during the restore process.

no, it shouldn't sync during the restore process, when the restore is done (i.e. at the screen that asks if you want to use a back-up) just un-plug it, plug it into his iTunes and sync it.

Ok, then but just to check at that point, will I be able to throw some jailbreak apps on there for him? And when he syncs to his, will it delete them? I want to put the jailbreak apps he wants on there for him, and then hide Cydia so he doesn't screw anything up.

EDIT: Heh, my real challenge is going to be getting him to understand how the tethered thing works, gonna throw a boot program on a flash drive for him.
