Any mods out there making it possible to transfer and play avi/divx files?
If not, is this something that is not possible or is there something being investigated?

I'm not sure if those are compatable with Zodttd's media player...

but I am fairly certain that Videora or Handbrake can convert them to MP4 if you wish it

I find that it takes such a long time to convert avi files to mp4 files. Would be cool if I could just put a 700mb avi files on the pod and play it as it is.

no, there would have to be some* kind of conversion process one way or another I'm fairly sure

    take mxtube for example

Youtube videos are flash based (.flv)

if you look at mxtubes code, and app directory you'll see that it stores both the .flv and the converted (readable) MP4

which is quite odd considering it doesn't need the original .flv once it makes the conversion... :\

I was thinking it was all code. I'm assuming that OSX on a Mac can play DIVX if you just download the correct encoders, I thought maybe if you had those encoders in a program on the touch, then you could play divx files on it too.

that's true, after all Youtube.app uses a flash video encoder/decoder so in theory one could work for AVI/DivX...

Look up something called oggplayer.app by zodttd...

I remember something like that a loooong time ago...

See if I can find that. It's not on Cydia or Installer yet though.

Hope something like this develops. Shouldn't really be a problem I'd guess.
There's someone in another thread asking about vlcplayer. That's what I guess most people us, ceirtanly in windows, to play divx files.
