My 4G won't operate my Altec-Lansing "boom box" when I use the cable that connects to my iPod on one end and plugs into the Aux-In jack on the other. It works fine with my 2G nano and the Altec-Lansing. Has the 4g touch's dock connector changed that much?

It's more likely that your sound system and iPod touch aren't compatible with each other. You could try instead using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. It'll work the same, although it won't charge it.

Duh!! It should have occurred to me. Got a 1 ft cable at Radio Shack today and I am extremely pleased with how my touch 4G works w/ my Altec-Lansing and iHome iH16 travel speakers.
