has anyone installed an aux converter in their car? and if you have, what kind was it and did you run into any problems?

i have a ford fusion 06 and i do have the aux button but in need of the input. i have been searching for days for a device and there are so many out there that i dont know what will work for my car and for the touch 2.2. im just confused i guess and in need of some advice on what to do. ive also searched through some car forums but i haven't had much luck with any clear answers.

if anyone has experience with this sort of thing please give me ur feedback on what to do. thanks!

I spent ages searching around for a method of plumbing my iPod 5th gen and then my iPod Touch into my Subaru's stock tape player, but couldn't find a definitive way due to the lack of an aux connection. I've seen a few sites around that offer up aux connection methods. In my case, in the end I bought an Alpine single din iPod compatible stereo. I was very happy with it until I moved up to an iPhone 3g and found that this didn't charge with the headunit as my other devices had. I also hear that the newer Alpine units don't even recognise the iPhone 3G and both Alpine and Apple are passing the buck on who is to blame for this incompatibility.

Sorry, slightly off topic and not really answering your question but I'm quiet here at work so I will try and dig up those links I found on the aux subject all those years ago...

    Edit/ some links:

Sorry I can't be any more help but pretty much any hook up should work for you.

theres many many more. but i just dont know which are good or what will work. they dont have any reviews and such. but people talk about these all the time on car forums. idk what to do i want something i can install my self and that wont put a hole in my pocket. are there any other options? ive been using FM and im sick of it so dont bring that one up lol.

Cheers. My Subaru's a bit newer and only has cd player so I couldn't even go down the avenue you have suggested

I had to buy a new stereo in the end... There was just no way of mashing up a connection to the stock cd player. Anyway, thanks for the tip.

The second one looks good. It adds that you can buy an additional kit '# Add an iPOD® interface to this auxiliary input by adding the SoundGate PDCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack. (Provides 5V charging for all new iPODs and iPhones, including the 3G)'. That would be the ticket if the connection for both charge and audio output is through the ipod dock connector. You want to try and go that way if possible rather than using the headphone jack.

Good luck! Should be fun installing it! I forgot to hook my turbo switch back up when I put my stereo in and had to strip the dashboard down a second time! Fun and games!
