I just thought of an awsome idea!

a application that runs in the background (like openssh) that will automatically connect to an network with best signal and no password.

would be really useful if you are in a car or school bus.

I thought about that a while ago but if you are in a car or especially in a bus, you won't have enough time on a decent wifi signal to do anything... although I would still get it because when traveling to cafes and stuff it would be convenient

I would totally create some of these apps cause I know how to program but I just don't know where to start with the whole iPod programming deal.

yea this would also be good if you happened to lose your ipod and had a twitter account set up to it would still record its position.

Horrible idea. Think of the battery life, that application wll kill it. If it auto detects and connects, don't you think it will waste the battery faster? What if you never find one, then that would be a waste.

Excellent point. Especially if you are on the move, and do not have access to a power source.
