whenever I plug in headphones, whether it be iPod headphones or Sony or etc, the audio would always come out of both my headphones and speakers quite loudly, even on the lowest volume. I checked the jack and it's quite clean and the strip at the end is white. is this is a firmware or hardware problem? I don't want to bring it in to apple for fear of 3.1.3 firmware being on it. it's still under warranty so i may be waiting for a jailbreak before bringing it in. any ideas?

It's been said that some cydia apps like Insomnia and Keepawake cause this problem (Insomnia was the problem when this happened to me). Rebooting works temporarily, otherwise uninstall those.

If you don't have either of these, I don't know.

oh wow, I removed keepawake and it worked like a charm. thanks dude!
only problem is I use keepawake almost all the time. but I guess I'll just reinstall/uninstall when I need and don't need it. thanks again though!
