So, my Installer isn't working so I went into organizer to see why and this is what I found:

    "Sat Aug 16 01:05:59 unknown Installer[405] <Warning>: url = http://i.ripdev.com/?&deviceUUID=ca***************************39758fe&installerVersion=4.0b4-4&locale=en&firmwareVersion=2.0&platform=iPhone"

    Well?

I don't think it's used for anything, but it's too late for me to look at the PHP script to make sure.

Kinda reminds me of the days when Intel chips would broadcast its serial number and no one knew. Now on most Intel BIOS setups, you have the option to broadcast it, or not.

I think you should explain it a bit, if you know what it means for the general advantage of us that don't.

This is indeed very interesting, Apple has recently been exposed of their "kill switch" so now it's RiP Dev'e turn? It might not be what you think at all. Maybe the program is just listing your ID so as to keep track of which iPhone/iPod you actually are. I don't think it would be something to hack or take control of our devices which I am sure is what is on a lot of our minds after you read this...human nature...

Anyway, email RiP Dev to ask them about if you're suspicious about it but I trust them so there...

Another reason for this is that they may be planning on selling installer like Kate, and the serial number is used for authentication.

Then again speaking of kate, it just might be something ripdev put in for kate installation "beta and ect". Because when I install kate and I dont have a licence or w/e, it never shows up on my springboard. So I think installer runs a authentication check when installing ripdev apps.
