Hi everyone, I was hoping I could get some help.

I gave my cousin my iPod touch to my cousin to jailbreak.
He didn't know that it was 3rd gen
He attempted to jailbreak it, it didn't work
I got it back and the thing won't even turn on.
It's been plugged in on the computer and an outlet so battery power is not the issue
In itunes I plug it in and "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode, you must restore the ipod to use in itunes"
There is still nothing on the touch screen, it's black.
I proceed to restore it via itunes and I get "error 1601"
I have tried to manually restore and reboot it but nothing is working.
Screen is still blank and it doesn't turn on!
I don't need it jailbroken I just want it restored to factory so it at least works.
    PLEASE HELP
    Thanks!

Place it into DFU Mode and THEN restore. Google search "DFU Mode"

Went into DFU mode and still doesn't restore.
Tried DFU then shift-restore with current touch 3g firmware "iPod3,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore" says firmware is not compatible.
I also tried with the 2g firmware and it gave me "error 1601"
Tried running blackra1n and it press "make it rain" it just says waiting for device no matter what I tried.
I wonder if throwing it against a wall will help haha.
