    i've installed on mine fine using ubuntu 7.10
    how i've done:
    sudo su (then put my pass)
    now i'm root
    ls to see folders
    cd iphonelinux-demo (to enter the folder)
    ./loadibec openiboot-ipod.img3 (then ipod show the iboot, select the boot manager on ipod and press home) once it loads enter in terminal
    ./oibc
    nor_read 0x09000000 0x0 1048576
    ~norbackup.dump:1048576
    install (then wait ipod to be flashed)
    then reboot
    and now i can dual boot ;p

    do you have a mac because i can give you patched loadibec oibc and linux for mac because musclenerd gave them to me and i just did what ^ he did exactly what he did last night and got it to work

    hey im on a mac, im getting problems following fjfc 's while running ubuntu in 8.10. id love it if u could provide those mac patches so i can try this.

    Ubuntu has a screwed up su (funny as hell actually, not even close to UNIX like system).. so you have to run sudo su.

    I realize why you're having problems; you're not starting oibc.
    oibc will communicate with your device, where nor_read is an actual command.

    Seriously.

    There is nothing hard about installing OpenIBoot and booting a kernel on an iPhone.

    Why is everyone having so much trouble? It took two minutes on both of my computers to get everything set up so I can start messing with things.
