I was wondering if since Apple announced that you can download movies and other content of the iTunes Store via 3G, how hard would it be for them to figure out that I'm tethering my iPhone to my Mac?

You can't download movies using 3G. They would know by looking at your traffic, since it all goes through THEM. Oh and did you know, your Unlimited plan has a 5 GB Cap?

NOWHERE does it say in the Terms of Service ANYTHING about a 5GB cap. There is a "reasonable use" clause, but nothing specific. The 5GB number comes from other smartphone data plans, but it probably is around the point that AT&T gets suspicious and investigates your activity. 5GB on the iPhone is HUGE. There is NO WAY you will come close to it unless you are downloading movies or other massive files. Even under heavy web surfing and email use, you won't come close.

If you're not downloading loads and just using it to browse, you shouldn't accumulate any noticeably large data usage, in which case nothing is likely to happen.
