I am going to ask if I can get a repair for my iPod's home button next time I am in the Apple Store. It doesn't respond about a third if the time, and I would like it to work, especially with iOS 4. However, my reciept got lost when my stuff was travelling across the Atlantic. (True Story) will apple still accept it?

Did you register it when you first plugged into iTunes?

I don't remember, what exactly do you do, because I remember doing something when I first bought it.
Also, would a hairline fracture in the screen also be fixed?

When you plugged it into iTunes, it probably asked you if you wanted to link it to your iTunes account. If you did that, they can just type in the serial to get the warranty info. If you still have a warranty on it, they will most likely just give you another one.

I took my iPod touch into the Apple Store to get a stuck Sleep/Wake button fixed without a receipt and they replaced the iPod for free.

I probably did that, because I only needed to put in the password for the account afterwards. And I have a 3G, none of them have gone past warranty.

Would it look suspicious if I give them a frshly restored iPod, or will my "sensitive" data excuse work. Also, do they just give a new iPod instead of actual repairs?

They wont care if it's restored. Just don't tell them it was jailbroken. Undo MakeItMine if you used that.
