Get the music off my iPod, back onto a new laptop when I get it?

And I go on holiday on Thursday, can I add some films to it, from a different computer, without losing my current songs?

I have no movies on atm, only music and apps, but I'm worried about losing it all...

    Is there any way?

You cant get the music out of your ipod.

And if you sync your iPod with another pc it will delete everything on it

what type of ipod is it? and if its a touch, is it jailbroken? i went around through mine one time in ssh, found a folder called iTunes_Control or something like it, opened it, and all of these folders called F00, F01, F02, F03... had my music in them, but they didnt have their names.

if you get them onto your computer, and put the music into itunes, then itunes will give the music its album cover and name

Then sorry theres not really anything you can do... but you could pull out the harddrive from your laptop and conect it to your pc and collect all your music and videos from it.

Hmm, problem is the laptop has HDD failure.

They are trying to get as much data off as possible, at the PC place, so will have to see....

Can I use the iPod as a sort off External Media? Like copy over via My Computer>iPod Touch, and then use some kind of file explorer to locate it?

Yea you can. I did it using iPod Access, even though the free version only allows you to download 5 songs at a time, so it takes like 10 minutes if you have a lot of songs. You want to get music off your Touch onto a computer right?
