this is really nice for developers and I'm sure that alot of devs will keep giving us free updates with more levels like in fieldrunners and sway! but since we are in a financial crisis and just because it means a bigger income for the devs, i'm just worried that they will be infatuated with the idea of earning more money and will start charging for stuff that in my opinion should be free. I may just be paranoid but seriously, that'd be terrible.

Please tell me what you think on the matter.

(I'm not saying that the devs of games with levels are all bad if they choose to have us pay for more levels. I'm just saying that I'd be disappointed.

Don't people do this already for game consoles?

Yeah, it's DLC (downloadable content) wrapped up in another form.

This could abolish lite versions, and just have one version, free, and then you pay for the extra stuff in-app, if you get what I mean.

You cannot charge for in-app content in a free application.

Yes stupid microsoft, but if it were up to the devs most game add ons would be free. At least for some games.

For example when gears of war 2 came out microsoft wanted to charge for the old maps that were redone, but the creators refused to charge.

It's available for all other gaming systems, and nothings wrong there.

Its like the free would just be a demo and once you reach the end of the demo it pops up askin if you wanna purchase the full app.Like a cell phone game

I don't really mind this, as if it helps fund independent developers, then great. No one is forcing you to pay.

But the idea of buying virtual "clothes" or "toys" for a virtual dog sends shivers down my spine. IMO

Microsoft isn't the only one to do this. Game developers/companies do this too.
