Are these icons used anywhere?

    I think they're the icons for when the icons wiggle.

    That's obviously what they represent. But I don't think these particular icons are used anywhere in the interface. Looks like Apple was planning on implementing the home screen rearrangement a different way. Just kind of interesting that they would leave these unused icons in there.

    Just a random idea, but maybe steve used them in his keynote so that way he wouldn't have to hold the icon for a second and possibly mess up doing it by slipping? Just a random guess probably wrong though.

    Actually, apple software is full of images for features that were never implemented. or old images for features that were, but ended up with different graphics.

    Right. Like the Exposé blob. Or the mysterious Dashboard toolbar icon that was inside of Tiger's Safari. I love finding that kind of stuff.
