I am a designer and need a full 100% authentic CAD software. Obviously I do not want the hassle of having to use my MacBook to work everytime and sometimes I get inspiration I want to immediately draw out. I found nothing good at all. AutoCAD is just a viewer. No SolidWorks, other programs can draw but not simulate the functions the way SolidWorks does. E.g. I want to simulate a gear system. I need it to move. No app like such can be found. Help?
Exactly what do you mean by "too advanced"? And no, after much grave digging, no such app available. Though there are editors and 2d drawing systems, nothing like a proper CAD app appears. Sad day for the designing world. Funny why people want to give their apps funny names like "Glovius", which is a light-weight app for viewing models.
Even the drawing apps are crap because apple refuses to put the technology in the screen to work well with stylus pens. I struggle to produce something worthy of an 8 year old.
Nah, just a crappy editor. You cannot even make a new drawing. Just edit what you already have in the online account. This also means I have to have a million empty files in the account to fulfill my needs.
In reality none of the devices meet the requirements for a quality Application for CAD. I wouldn't expect much sales for it either.
You aren't going to be getting a reliable, feature-complete CAD program on iOS for a while. While I think it will come (albeit for the iPad), it's going to be a while. And hopefully they are able to come up with an intuitive interface for it, because a straight port would be a train wreck.
FYI, there is a proper CAD app for the iPad by SolidWorks. Odd why it is not in the iPhone and iPod touch.
