Is there a way that Apple can trace a lost MacBook?
With third party software, yes.
Trace it? Well I assume if someone reports it as stolen or missing they could blacklist the serial number to prevent repairs and maybe even software updates. ( I don't know if they go that far, however...)
Yeah. I figured my friend would be SOL, just because of the fact that the average Mac user that's my age wouldn't know about third-party security apps, or doing something that complicated.
yea u can trace the ip if you know it and if you dont know it a way to find out is to go to someones computer or email account and trace the ip address of the person who sent the email so if you sent an email to someone you can go to their house or on their email account an trace it then u will get the ip address because you have sent the email from your macbook that got stolen
go on youtube to find tutorials on how to do this
