Ok I was just about to update to iOS 4.1 and then jailbreak on my iPod Touch 2g (MB), but I first had to backup my jailbroken apps using aptbackup (I don't have the money for pkgbackup).

Anyways I run it and it looks like it opens and then it just closes. All other jailbroken apps work fine except (and I don't think this is just a coincidence) AppBackup (like aptbackup but for regular apps).

Any suggestions? Is there a way to backup my jailbreak apps via SSH?

Well if you did a backup on itunes befor then updated then jailbroke and installed these apps then restored from backup then all your Jailbreak app settings will come back!

Um...I'm having trouble understanding what you're trying to say. Are you saying iTunes will backup my jailbroken apps? Because I don't think that will work.

Oh and I forgot to mention I've reinstalled aptbackup multiple times via Cydia and it still doesn't want to work.

So it would save my categories setup and sbsettings setup but not the actual apps?

Correct but you will need to install categories first then restore from backup

Restore your iTunes Backup of your iPod or iPhone. Also I do not know any fix.

But how would this work if I'm wanting to upgrade to 4.0, since the backups I have are of 3.1.2?

The backup from 3.1.2 will work with 4.0. Its if you make a backup on 4.1 and then downgraded to 4.0 or 3.1.2 etc that it would not accept it!
