I'm using a 1g 2.2.1 ipod touch, and whenever i organize my apps on the home screen (i use categories but keep essential ones on the main page) and when i have to re spring after installing an app from cydia, my icons move to different places. also i have the 5 icon dock installed but when i have 5 icons there and re spring it goes back to 4 icons

    how do i fix this???

kate and 5 icon dock dont like each other.

    definitely not the easiest answer.
    gotta back everything up
    do the whole restore process
    rejailbreak
    such a pain

to me, the easiest thing to do is ssh in and find the problem.
or if you cannot ssh, just look around the forum.
every problem has to have a solution. and restoring is not the only answer
    for some cases, it is.
for others, it is the worst case scenerio

what i mean is its the easiest answer for me to say. but a back up and restore only takes 10-15 minutes. well it does for me. rejailbreaking takes another 10 minutes. finding the problem with ssh takes longer.

Its Kate. Open installer and remove it. Kate sucks I don't know why people use it.

Hey hey hey, I use Kate. The only reason why is because I like the DejaVu font. But I have made Kate not fail me, by not messing up my springboard.
