So I'm trying to download the Box.net app on my iPod, and I don't see it on the app store. OK, I think, I'll just go to the iTunes store and download it and sync it over. But NO... i's not compatible with my iPod???

    the pic says it all

It says 'box.net for the iPhone'. However, I suspect that either someone screwed up there with the template, since it's not a voice app which would require a mic.

Or this is Apple preparing to make their fans angry since not all of them are ready to buy Touch 2G's yet, and technically the iPhone and iPod Touch 1G use the same hardware... so the only thing that'd be stopping this from installing would be a single line in the installer that says 'iPod Touch 2G, iPhone 3G'.

Apple doesn't have control over what systems the apps go to. The developer does. If it shows up in the store, but you can't download it's because Apple is having some issue or the developer doesn't want to port it to that system.

They might just not have checked a box by first gen iPods.
Write to them and ask why. Might be an error (Happened to ngmoco

I have a 2nd Gen, but I remember getting an application that had 1st Gen people complaining that it didn't work in the reviews.

Just checked, the app is "PAC-MAN lite" from the US store.

i've emailed them... because i dont see how a box.net app NEEDS a line-in or a mic or speakers, the only things a 2G ipod or a 3G iphone both have that a 1G ipod doesnt have

You can still download it and use on the 1G, it's probably a mistake by the developer.
