apps on my tv would be a very good reason for to actually invest in this relatively cheap multimedia device...

If they can get the USB working and add more codecs like 1st gen ATV it will be great.

I can't believe I forgot to put that cheesy "First" on all my first posts. Should receive a one day ban for that

if this works out and we end up running apps on the ATV, VLC has the iphone/ipodtouch and ipad app comming that covers all codecs, or most popular ones anyway

not really a matter of if, more like when. And with ATV 2g running the same internals as ipt4g and iphone 4, $99 for a device that has the same function as them will be breathtaking. A cheap webtv / mini computer which can hookup to hdmi monitors also, Could install it in a vehical (like mines with dual monitors) for a cheap way to have gps as well as rear / passanger entertainment. I mean honestly this would really be worth $99, the limits are endless...........

They need something similar to springboard.app, similar in a way that it has the same functionality, not the same look/feel.

It needs to be able to launch the apps, but couldn't that be done from a terminal or some kind of command?

Apps on my tv? I can find no reason to want apps when I have an iPad and iPhone.
