I've googled it many times.. don't really get what it covers.

Basically i need some sort of insurance for my new iPhone.

I will drop it alot, and the screen will crack eventually, and i may even loose it. Will Applecare cover that? Or what other insurances do?

Im on 02 and have the iPhone 3G Black 8gb

AppleCare is not insurance, and does not cover accidental damage (water, dropping, etc.) It extends the warranty 3 years, I believe.

Your carrier may provide insurance, though I am not sure.
