I was having a problem with my ipod touch 2g volume.
    See this - http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213077

So i took it to Apple's repair centre.
They said they'll check it and replace it if a problem was there in a week.
One week later (today) i got a new ipod as a replacement.

I come home and attach it to itunes and put some of my stuff on.
I then played a song and

    no sound.
i increased the volume and it says headphones

even when i havent inserted any.
i inserted headphones and the volume is ok

After a week of waiting they again give me a piece like this.
    I am really angry

is the adapter you're using the stock apple one or is it longer with a larger head. I have one of these and whnever I connect to it my speaker does not work.

    What a rip-off.

Call Customer Service and complain. If they hang up, call back.
Theyll eventually replace it, and credit your iTunes account.

    Everybodys happy.

    * You could also take them to court for violating your warranty.

No it was a new one. (Shiny with no scratches on the back at all)

i searched google and maybe its some kind of a headphone jack problem like the ipod feels the headphones are still plugged in.
    any suggestions?

Yup. It may be software-related. Try restoring it.

When you brought it home, did you restore it from a backup?
