    Couldn't you plug it into the latest iTunes on a Mac and click "Restore"? I mean, really, think about it... You can only get a certain firmware off iTunes if it's the one for the device connected.

    With that said, if no one else has the iPhone 4G, there is really no reason why they wouldn't have it on the server; Or file-system for .IPSW shared with iTunes.

    Whoever has the phone could just plug it in, click restore and see what happens... The activation might be tricky. But then again, don't you think Apple would have maybe 50 prototypes floating around in their higher up employee's hands? Steve Jobs has one, I wouldn't doubt. His assistant probably has one, no doubt.

    Haha i don't think Gizmodo should have done so much publicity until they tried everything to get the iphone running...

    They had tried but all they could see was the amazingly high quality plug in to itunes cable on the gorgeous high res screen lol

    Oh well now it makes it easy geohot and other jailbreak easier lol, thry got the full 4.0 os firmware

    They won't giove it back to Apple. That is to valueable of a prototype.

    Apple has the rights to shut the site down if they don't give the prototype back. GIZMODO will be in serious risk of loosing their site if they don't give it back.
