Why do you need a Apple TV(or something similar)? A PC can do the same work, and i'm sure the iMac could too...

I have an Asus O!Play, I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for though

Yea, it's pretty good. I'm happy with it. I was initially thinking of getting an Apple TV but 160gb isn't enough for me. But with the Asus O!Play, you connect your own external harddrive to it so you have as much space as you need. Plus, the Asus O!Play supports a lot more video formats.
