    FROM APPLE

Inability to apply future software updates: Some unauthorized modifications have caused damage to the iOS that is not repairable. This can result in the hacked iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iOS update is installed.

Sounds like a threat to me...

I know most of this is just Apple getting huffy and trying to scare its patrons into toeing the line so far as Apple and only Apple having anything to do with anything Apple, but the small chance that this kind of thing might be true is the reason I waited until the first update (iOS4) which made it clear that my device was getting sent to the kids table. As soon as I knew that iOS4 was only going to partially apply to my device, I knew that the next large update would leave me out in the cold so I don't really care about further updates.

    DFU Restore!

Seriously, there's nothing to worry about. That's in reference to attempted baseband downgrading of the iPhone 2G which lead to bricking.

That seems like a typical Apple threat to me.....I'm not worried though, I'm keeping my 1G iPod Touch until the iPod Touch 4G comes out!
