Apple is suing HTC (maker of popular Android phones like the HTC Hero and Google Nexus One) for infringing on patents, detailed here. Some of the patents are very old (more than ten years) while some are extremely new.

However, many of the alleged patents that have been infringed upon actually call out parts of Android (which HTC builds many of their phones upon, though with an added skin on some) that are prevalent throughout the OS, even on different phones. Is Apple actually calling out Android in general?

Here are some sites with various information/insights:
    Engadget
    Gizmodo
    TiPb
    Android Central

    As Engadget points out here,
It seems as if this is part of a greater war against Android OS as a whole, and not just against HTC.

This case is extremely new (just originating today, March 2, 2010) and has yet to be seen in front of any Judge, so no verdict can be made as of yet.

Just like Apple. How typical of them. Monopolizing the market.

Android is not the only target. Windows Mobile is also. Along with Nokia.

They have a right to protect their own IP, if they have a case. Yay Capitalism & Competition!

Sure they have a right, but on their patents this large, that encompass many things, it's rather ridiculous.

    Btw, nice right-up.

Hard work? They didnt create everything they have patents for, they just patented what they did. They copied off of things before them.
