Apple spokesperson... "Hey everyone, we forgot to mention there is an Easter egg hidden somewhere in the iPhone 5! We were gonna wait, but Hell, we may as well tell you now. Surprise, we have included a bonus filter!".
How do you get the purple haze to occur? Never once saw it on any of my devices and I cannot replicate on my 4S or 5.
Smartphones have put devices in the hands of people that, just a few years ago, couldn't tell you what a lens was for let alone what "lens flare" is! -Max
People who complain about it don't know what they are talking about. They need to do more research. Easiest way is to point it at the sun...but of course you risk damaging the sensor a little bit if you do. Just point it at a fluorescent light bulb.
