http://micgadget.com/apple-peel-520/ It's now available for pre-order at MIC gadget, who will be importing the device. There's a software upgrade that fixes a few known issues, and they expect more colors in the future. It may not look pretty, but here's a list of features: - Full 2G phone integration with the device, as well as a SMS service (both available via jailbreak apps) - Hard shell. - 5 hours talk time, 120 hours standby. - Dimensions: 121.0 × 65.0 × 12.5 mm,, Weight: 220 grams (Larger than the iPhone) - Only $99.
I WAS going to get one, until I saw the price. They said $60 at first, and I'd be willing to go 75. But not $100. Waiting on GoSolarUSA(if they're legit) to sell them stateside. That or they turn up on DealExtreme, whichever happens first.
Far too many bugs for me to consider (I have an iPhone, anyways). It's still pretty cool, though. I wonder what'll happen with Sprint's Peel? We haven't heard much about it ever since the FCC looked at it.
Given the problems with it, yes, that is bad. If it were perfect I wouldnt mind. But not being able to change the ringtone, not lighting up the screen when getting a call and no caller ID are not worth 100. If a software update fixes the issues I'd gladly drop the money for one. Where? Can you post some links?
AFAIK the sprint peel was just a 3G to wifi adapter, not a real cell phone. This device adds GSM cell phone capabilities(calling, texting, possibly in a future update EDGE) to the ipod touch, so as long as you have a GSM phone carrier(in the US that would be AT&T or T-Mobile) your ipod becomes an iphone minus the GPS and camera(before 4th gen).
i havent looked into this so i didnt know, but yea all of those are software related, im pretty sure theyre tryin to work it out
