Apple have been busy working behind the scenes to patent a new 'social networking workflow' for the iPhone OS. Basically its a new way for devices to interact with each other.

You have two devices, one which initiates the action and the target device. This could pave the way for integrated facebook features like requesting a friend. But it could also be useful in other situations such as for exchanging business cards or in a school situation.
