This is a discussion thread for the "Apple Patents Ad-Supported OS" story posted on the front page.
Hell no! I will NOT get an operating system that stops operating every now and then so it can sell me stuff!
I would, but only if every ad was made by Old Spice.
To me this is counter-intuitive. People who buy iPhones buy them because they require the functionality or are tech enthusiasts who don't mind paying a premium price for quality workmanship.
Apple is attempting to cater to a third market which may or may not exist. Is this really a business model that will pay off for Apple or create more antagonism towards them? I'm inclined to believe the latter.
I'm having trouble understanding this. By Ad-Supported, does it mean ads that popup during when you're using the operating system, or is it just the concept of iAds?
Agreed. We don't pay for some of the most advanced hardware available just to get purposefully downgraded software for a few bucks less down the road.
My question: is apple trying to Make android the better OS? This would/could kill off many people considering a iPhone over android. I certainly would never pay for a ad supported iPhone.
But if they offer an iPhone at the same price as a low-end Nokia, then users would almost always choose the iPhone. Then they would be hooked on smart-phones!
Drug dealers do the same thing.
..aaaand this is why I'm an infoanarchist. Being able to patent stuff that can be easily implemented (not to mention thought up) by any idiot is one of the most stupid things possible. Just my two cents =/
Off Topic: You don't have to refresh to see new posts? Woah, that's cool. Or maybe I just haven't been on forums long enough.
