This is a discussion thread for the "Apple Never 'Invented' Anything" story posted on the front page.
I totally agree with the author's opinion. Apple products are "flashier" and rather overpriced too. Consumers buy into gimmicky products and thus apple products become a huge fad. People give too much praise for Apple's so called innovation.
"Gimmicky" products? Apple products are not gimmicky, they're good. The Retina Display actually improves experience. Siri is actually useful. These aren't gimmicks, they're actual product features that are a legitimately compelling reason to buy an Apple product.
It's more than a fad (though some of it is that too) before the iPhone we had crappy stylus phones, before the iPad, we had clunky, hot, slow and noisy xp tablets, and who doesn't call an mp3 player an iPod anymore? Reinvent means they might as well invented it. Apple takes proper precedures and is more future proof, people though floppy discs would be used for a long time and apple was hated for not supporting it. Now look at us. And flash is going in that direction too. We have apple to thank for making EVERYONE else open their eyes and getting their heads outta their a**es. People need to thank iOS for all it's done over 5 years. It's a very functional and practical operating system and has alot of support thanks to this "fad". There are times when the popularity is annoying but they deserve it.
They re-invent. If Apple did not exist and nothing they made existed we most likely would not have multitouch smartphones with apps to this day!
Fantastic article, no matter what side you are on, period. You simply cannot argue with the fact that Apple's products sell for a reason.
COULDN'T AGREE MORE.... crAPPLE TRIES TO OWN SOMETHING THAT'S ALREADY EXISTENT . I'd consider them as more of an innovator than inventor...
They invented Steve Jobs. They invented the ideology behind Apple products. That's what makes them so special.
1) Turn All Caps off. 2) "crApple" was funny for the first few times. Now, after years of hearing it, it's childish and immature. 3) What you said made absolutely no sense.
