I'm not able to do anything with my iPod that involves iTunes. My Apple Mobile Device isn't starting up anymore. I am unable to start it too.

The Apple Mobile Device is the driver (So to speak) for the iPod/iPhone you're connecting to a computer.

go to control panel and remove the following and then reboot and reinstall iTunes

    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple Software Update
    Bonjour
    iTunes

once you reboot and reinstall hopefully everythin will be fine and settings for iTunes should still be intact

It worked. I didn't have to uninstall Apple Software Update though. But, now even though my iPod is connected and iTunes recognizes it for more than 1 minute, I still can't restore. It keeps giving me a different error number each time.

    a simpler way

    Control Panel> Administrative Control(s)> Services

Then right click on apple mobile device, or whatever, left click, right click sometihng. then u should see a bunch of options or sometihng. click automatic or when to start. then click "start service"
    then re-start itunes

all good. sorry, a little sloppy help. im now on ubuntu itrepid ibex, i do not use itunes much anymore

    hope this helps

    Merry Christmas!
