So I heard that you can get a discount on all apple laptops if you show them a valid student ID. Is this discount only for college students, or is it for all students? I've been thinking about getting a MacBook for $999 and they said with a valid student ID I could get a discount from $45 to $450. So how much of a discount would I get on a MacBook with a student ID?

Go to the Education Apple Store to see.

    http://store.apple.com/us-k12

Apple offers special education pricing on Apple computers, software and select third party products to the following groups:
    College students
Teachers, administrators, staff, and board members of all grade levels

Well, in Canada, the discount only applies to College and University students (and Kindergarten to University staff members). I'm not sure how it'll be in other countries though. But yea, you should be able to check the education store for the prices.
