They are only offering it up to certain people whom Apple chooses. So, you and I will not be able to take advantage of that.
But still, select 3rd party apps are better than no 3rd party apps.
It's a start, but they're not going to "digitally sign" all applications, just ones that they like... :/
Oh dont be like that! I'll get my hands on a copy and share for all!
Though it is coming out next year.
What about the touch though... they may introduce differences in the software that prevent us from using iPhone apps. Its a real possibility.
I know apple has an agreement for now with AT&T but atleast this opens the door for proprietary apps like Skype. Not to mention this will allow for more serious programs, like IM applications that aren't complete crap *cough* apollo *cough*.
*on a side note, who here see's Norton for iPhone poping up soon.
Coming soon the new iPhone SLOW.
I have a big feeling we will have to unjailbreak our iPods in order to take advantage of 3rd party apps.
To take advantage of the "legal" ones ... most assuredly.
what they should do instead, like theyre brothers MS, and Linux.. is let designers make 3rd party apps, and then have them digitally signed. This would ONLY help Apple, I dont understand why they have to be such stubborn azzholes about this. There are already like 350 apps, if regular people knew about them, and it was easy to install, Apple would only be selling more and more touches... what idiots.
