This is a discussion thread for the "Apple is the Exception in a Declining PC Industry" story posted on the front page.
Hmm. 20 years from now. I was traveling through Atlanta Airport last month and when I was walking through, nearly everyone I saw had either an iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Saw a lot of Macs too.
Important to remember that tablets aren't being counted in these numbers. Important because, ya know, Apple would have an even bigger lead. (And yes, some other companies would have slightly higher numbers as well; HP and Dell would be even more screwed)
It is also easier for Apple to post year-over-year growth since their volume of PCs shipped isn't nearly high as HP or Dell yet.
I highly doubt that. They have more money than basically everyone else...combined. And money means nothing. It's when companies don't change their ways of design and marketing that leads them to their fall. With the people Apple has, I doubt they will be dying out anytime in the near future.
next year i can see myself with a Windows Phone 8, Windows 8 Surface tablet and Desktop running Windows 8. tho Android 4.1 is damn good for a phone OS. if next Nexus can get good camera and a good processor it's Nexus instead of WP8! i don't really see any iPods lately other than mine own!
The only thing is, they now lack the revolutionary character in the business - Steve Jobs. How far ahead was Jobs thinking of the future of his company before he died? When they run out of his ideas, the company may be on the downhill road.
Here is the world wide data: ASUS and Lenovo have solid growth. -- I don't see the iPad and Android tablets as PC replacements yet so imo it makes sense to exclude them from these stats. Windows 8 might change the tablet game a bit but it's too early to tell.
well maybe because Apple is the only company that creates macs? 0_o You are excluding people like me that buy their parts because it is cheaper and built our own PCs
