I was at the apple store today and they have reduced the price of ipod touch to $379 in order to make the january update free for the new users.isn't it ridiculous?

In the U.S., the 16g IPT was $399. Now it's pretty much $379, without the new Jan apps, so if you buy the new apps your total price would be $399, which is what Apple is selling them for with the new apps installed.

So those of us who paid $399 as recently as 3 weeks ago are being asked to pay an additional $20 for the apps, bringing our total price to $419 for the same thing you get for $399 today.

Don't know where these prices are coming from. Apple store online shows same $299/$399 as it has always been.

Actually, I just checked macconnections.com and they have the 16gb for $359, 8gb for $229, both without the new apps.

The Apple Store at apple.com is selling 16/8 for 399/299 and with the new apps.

So if you're in the market -- buy the macconnections IPT, buy the $20 apps, and STILL be ahead of everyone that bought from Apple for Xmas.
