    I understood all up to:

soo what will happen if i want that remote just f*ck down?

If you're saying you don't want the remote... don't use it. It's attached to the headphone wires and the mic is attached to the remote.
It's only small and I'm sure you'll "get into using it" when you find out how easy it'll be to switch songs.

Btw... is you iPod a 2G or 1G?

Yeah I'm not sure I understand the issue here either. I have these earphones, and the remote and mic is a very small, lightweight inline device on the right earphone cord. It's barely noticeable, yet adds FFWD, RWD, Pause and mic abilities.

I'm having a hard time seeing the downside.

Yeah but it has to be up near your mouth for mic support.
