I found a apple Ibook G4 for sale on craigslist for $100 The current owner states they bought it in 2004 for over $1,000 and they claim it has the newest operating system installed. The only problem is they say when they turn it on, the thing starts to load and it just sits there with the apple logo on it. My question is, what could be the problem? How easy would it be to fix it? could I take it to the apple store for them to look at and fix? and lastly, would buying it be a good move? I mean it's $100 and Ive been wanting to switch from a PC to A MAC for along time now. What would you suggest? Oh, and there is also a new apple works cd in the drive they are throwing in. Thanks for any help and/or advice

Actully, i think that the iBooks G4's are not compatible with Snow leopard, so they wouldnt have the latest operating system

That seems like a fair price. The G4 is probably comparable to that of today's netbooks.

If its stuck on the Apple logo, then most likely its just the OS. You could do a reinstall of Leopard easily.
