He said it's being built into the current Touch with the new firmware as they are manufactured and released. The price has not changed. Ergo, new owners get them free.

I makes no sense to me. People buying a new Touch for the same price I bought mine are going to get them already on the device. I might understand if the new price for a Touch was $20 higher. It's nothing but greed on Apple's part as far as I can see. I'll bet they've noticed that Touch owners with wifi access, buy less music via iTunes than their other iPod owners. This is their greedy way to steal more clear profit from us. It's almost as if Apple regrets making the Touch. It is no where as profitable as the cell phone income from the iPhone.

Make as big a stink as you can, everyone.

I understand the complaints. But, if you've jailbroken your touch you have these apps already. So screw apple and keep your jailbroken touch. easy nuff.

So..If I buy a Touch off amazon today, it most likely will not have the new firmware. The new apps (including the new home screen stuff) can be purchased later for $20? It isn't like I am losing out on anything by buying it from Amazon instead of apple and paying more, right?

There really is no point to your insults, nor is there a point to upgrade unless it's necessary for the apps.

The Apple store still has the Touch WITH applications for $399, so whoever said that was wrong.

i was hoping for awsome apps..but nothing yet to convince me to move..
gosh paying $20 US (am in Aus) thats crazy for something i already have.

Mind you maps is the new version..but...i can get triangulation approximation on my mobile on a google maps for free!...;)

it just doesnt make sense...paying for something you can get for free very very easy!

so ehhhhhhh wheres the SDK?? or is that coming on Feb?!??!
