Exactly, why would anybody be bragging about Android being open-source. I didn't like my home screen so I downloaded a different one from the market and I could add a whole lot more widgets and things to my home screen and at the same time saving battery life. I'm not an Android fanboy either, I just wish people would do a little more research when people talk about the OS being more open.
Trust me coming from a ios and switching to android, via htc evo 4g, it was cool at first, but once the customization stuff wears off, its just, i dunno how to explain it, android sorta feels like windows xp compared to windows 7, xp is good, but ugly, android is ugly, the buttons, menus, ugly, im running gingerbread currently, and the market place, impossible to navigate, and the app selection, although vast, is mostly junk, more so than the junk on app store, i still feel android needs polish, even the same apps on ios that are on android don't look or feel as good as they do on ios, while ios needs revamps in some areas, its much more smoother and more stable, than android, and im sure apple will come out with something good, either with iphone 5 or ios 5 will have some cool features, im pretty positive we will at least see a new notification system, and hey maybe some garbage collection for the devs out there
but, like he said, it's "more" open. and that's true. i prefer iOS over android. i prefer to get an updated firmware as soon as it's released. not wait for carriers to to release it. the main thing that bugs me about iOS is lack of flash. poor apple can't produce software to handle flash. android, webOS, (wp7?) can. i hate that apple limits my device. and i hate more apple fan boys sticking up for that as if it's a good thing not to have the full web.
Some people think that the next iPhone will be revealed in September. Which is what Apple may want people to think, so if Apple introduces the next iPhone in this event... everyone is surprised!
It's called Get a Mac. And I wholeheartedly agree with the Thread Title. I'm not gonna be amused if iOS 5 doesn't debut. Here's to hoping for Lion as well. ^_^
iOS is going to come out in WWDC for sure. The 'slogan' Apple used in their invitations was something along the lines of 'Come see what the future of Mac OS and iOS is going to look like'. Pretty much self-explanatory, huh?
